Wimbledon part 2

Wimbledon 23 June 2009

On the 23rd of June happen to be the 2nd day of Wimbledon!!! and Yes I went!!! yay!!! however, I was not able to go for the whole day and the time I got there and so did some of my friends who were on the trip we only saw half of this match below. But still it was really amazing just to be there especially when Wimbledon was actually happing. As soon as I walked in it was incredible. I am not big fan of tennis at all but, it is different when you see it live and in London and at Wimbledon. Below are pictures from court three and Amelie Mauresmo was playing against Melinda Czink . I found out when I was there from my friend Zack and Maya that Amelie had won the cup in Wimbledon in 2006. So I thought that was pretty incredible that I was able to see Wimbledon Champion play even though she had won in 2006. Still amazing. She did win her match against Melinda. After the match some of my friends and I went walking around the grounds were packed. I tried that day Strawberries and cream which Wimbledon is famous for having. It was soooo good. I want more!!! Even though I only had about two hours, there I am soo glad I was able to go it is one of the top 10 highlights of my trip and something I will never forget. I have more pictures to post so the next couple pages will be pictures from Wimbledon.

Enjoying a Sunday London Style

On Sunday 7 June we went to Regents Park it is the most Gorgeous park I have ever seen. The flowers were blooming and it was very calming being there. We all just took are time and walk around I love it. Below are pictures from Regents Park. Pic with me in it includes my friends Pam, Julia and Jessie. I did not take to many pictures with me in it that day because I wanted to take more scenery pictures because it was so beautiful there. We also went to Camden Town which is a cheap shopping market clothes/food all the above. We did a whole lot of walking that day but that is not unusual for us we always do a lot of walking. I don't think I ever did as much walking as I been doing here. But I love being here so I guess it is not that bad walking as much we do. However, we do take the tube and for those who do not know what the tube is it is a underground train it is crowded at times and really hot in there but it is the fastest way to get around. On Monday 8th of June I had my internship an theater class and we saw are second play that evening called War Horse it was soooo good!!! It made me laugh, and I have to admit I got a little teary eyed during the show it was at the National Theater. Here is a the bio on the play that I am copying and pasting from the website.

The National's epic is based on War Horse, the celebrated novel by the Children's Laureate (2003-05) Michael Morpurgo. Actors working with magnificent, life-sized puppets by the internationally renowned Handspring Puppet Company lead us on a gripping journey through history.

I do have to say though there were times where I differently thought that the horse puppet was real. the horse puppets and the scenery were fantastic.

Outings from first week and Photos

The first week outings were really amazing however, I wish we had more time to really take in what we are seeing. When we have group outings on weekends we have full day of going different places and on a schedule. So we dont always have to to really take everything in. Plus Dr. O-A who leads the outings walk soooo fast if we do not keep up we will loose him. But we all try to make sure no one gets left behind.
5 June we to the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey:
The tower of London was Remarkable to see everything first hand. A lot of what the tour guide told us I know already from my history course but to be able to actually see where the events took place was incredible experience. We saw the crown jewels meaning the real king and queen crowns unfortunately we were not aloud to take pictures when we were inside the towers. So everyone will just have to imagine or look up a picture of what they look like. LOL!!! Each crown was tons of huge and some small jewels on them. Some of these crowns are still worn on specially occussions. We also, Henery VII armour it is a brand new exhbit at the tower of London some are the orginial and some are copies. But all of them were custom made for him and it is kinda of funny but you can tell as you see each armour for the different decades how fat he got as time passed on I mean really fat.

Now For Westminster Abbey Samething we were not able to take pics inside but I have some outside. This was incredible inside we saw the actually tombs were some kings and queens are burried beneath the abbey. Which also, was kinda of creepy that ground we walking un people are burried underneath. But it was breathtaking to be in there. They had one section called poet lane and tons of peots and writters and even some actors had were honor with special plaques there. Now all of them were burried there but the plaques honor their memory.
That day went there was really fun day when we were at the tower we had sometime to go on are own and adventure out. everyone kinda of split into small groups and went off did there own thing for an hour. My group we went and saw the Henry the VII exhbit and we saw the changing of guards there. However, it was nothing compared to what we saw when we went to Buckingham Palaces.
